Dear ASU Advocate Friend,

Well…the 2004 election season has officially ended, and it was definitely one of the most closely watched seasons in recent years. No matter how you voted, it was very exciting and refreshing to see so many people interested in the many political races. We would like to thank all the candidates who ran at the various levels. We know how time consuming and grueling the campaign process can be. Thank you for furthering the political process. And to all those who voted, we THANK YOU!!

We are proud to announce that since our last newsletter, 328 new friends and alums have joined the ranks of the Sun Devil Advocate Network. Our army has now grown to 767 active members. With your help, we are confident that we can surpass our goal of 1,000 advocates before the start of the 47th Arizona State Legislature.

So please take a few minutes and e-mail or call folks you know and give them our web site address — www.sundeviladvocates.org — tell them you’re an advocate, explain to them what it means and tell them they too can become an advocate in three easy steps:

1.) Go to www.sundeviladvocates.org
2.) Click on the link “Become a Member.”
3.) Fill out the quick and easy form and in less than two minutes they’ll become an official member of the Sun Devil Advocacy Army.

ASU’s Legislative Proposal

ASU’s Office of the President has finalized the FY 2005 State Budget Request. A total of $54,441,200 will be requested from the legislature dealing with enrollment growth, health insurance and information technology upgrades.

We will constantly keep you updated on the status of our budget request and we’ll be asking for you help during the legislative session.

Closing Thoughts

Increasing our army of advocates will increase our visibility at the state Capitol.

So please take some time today and make it a goal to recruit just one person you know to become a member of the Sun Devil Advocacy Army — because the reality is this: A larger advocacy army will greatly increase our ability to convince the 90 members who make up the Arizona Legislature that higher education (and notably Arizona State University) should be a priority year in and year out.
